My interest in Victa 18 Mowers started a couple of years ago. A mate had an old Victa he had done up to sell at a swap meet. It generated heaps of interest and we heard plenty of stories about old mowers and blokes chopping of bits of toes.
Last year we went back to the swap meet and I found a complete aluminium bodied Victa 18 mower that still had the steel guard rim. I took all the bits into work to blast them, ready to paint. One of the older guys in another shed told me he had an old Victa but it was all made of steel. He said one of the other old blokes who worked there used to put them together for the local farm supplies when he was a teenager. By now, I was starting to get interested in old Victa mowers.
Before this years swap meet we found the good mower had a bent crank, so we had to keep an eye out for bits.
In the end we bought three 18s, none of which had a steel rim and all had an extra bit in the casting, a box of parts (including a good crank) and a bashed up Pace with a good Victa motor. We were told that the extra bit in the base was for a trimming attachment that was never released. It looks like the original mower will take pride of place in our collection until we can find an old steel one that we can afford.

Well a couple of years on and the collection is growing.
I've now got a Rotomo (an earlier all steel model) and a couple more 18's.

I've looked around the Internet and can't find much on the subject of old Victas so thought I would start a page.

What Colour should they be?

A young guy at the Ballan tractor pull told me the official colour is Avocado green hammertone, this seems to be the popular concensus.
Galmet used to have Avacado green listed as a colour on their website, but unfortunately it's no longer available.
